The Wildlife Pledge 2010
2010 is not just the date of the UK General Election it is also International Year of Biodiversity.
Eleven wildlife conservation organisations have therefore put together the Wildlife Pledge 2010. This aims to raise the profile of nature conservation amongst prospective parliamentary candidates and to identify potential wildlife champions that we can work with, if they are elected, to make the UK a better place for biodiversity in and beyond 2010.
The pledge
The candidates we contacted were encouraged to sign a pledge to do all they can, if elected, to help stop and reverse the loss of wildlife. They were also asked to sign 10 sub pledges, these can be seen here
This website shows the candidates that we have contacted and those that have signed at least one of the pledges. We have contacted candidates that have been declared for the main political parties. We will be contacting further candidates when further declarations have been made. You can search by name, constituency or postcode to find out which of your candidates have pledged to work for wildlife.
So far 228 candidates have signed the pledge.
